Apprenticeships to Support Your Business

Team Leader

The Team Leader apprenticeship is for individuals who provide first-line management, guiding and supporting teams to deliver projects and services across a wide range of organisational settings.

The Team Leader apprenticeship prepares individuals to lead teams and support senior management in organisations of all sizes and sectors. Team leaders are responsible for delivering operational and project objectives by managing people, workloads, and resources. They provide clear direction, resolve issues, and build strong working relationships across departments.

Working with teams in areas such as operations, human resources, finance, legal, IT, and marketing, they also engage with external stakeholders like customers, clients, and suppliers. This role may involve on-site, off-site, or hybrid working arrangements.

Team leaders contribute to planning, monitoring performance, supporting development, and improving processes. They operate within set budgets and report to more senior managers, often guiding or influencing decisions through data analysis and resource evaluation. They play a key role in aligning their team’s work with organisational goals, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and policies related to ethics, inclusion, and sustainability.

The Operations Manager apprenticeship is designed for individuals who lead and manage teams to ensure organisational goals are met. Operations managers oversee people and processes, providing clear, inclusive leadership and direction. They play a vital role in ensuring departments operate effectively and in line with legislation and organisational policies.

They are responsible for setting and monitoring objectives aligned with strategic goals, managing projects, developing staff, planning resources, solving problems, and building internal and external relationships. In smaller organisations, they may also contribute directly to achieving strategic aims.

Operations managers interact with departments such as HR, finance, legal, IT, sales and marketing, and engage with external stakeholders including customers and suppliers. They may work on-site, in offices, or remotely, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Operating within agreed budgets and resources, they make informed decisions and influence others. They apply business continuity principles, interpret data, analyse resources, and drive efficiency improvements.
